Just this past October I had the chance to go on a KISS Kruise with my son, and I was surprised at how well they are still rocking. I suppose the makeup helps for KISS because they still look almost exactly how they did back in the 70′s and 80′s, it helps to make them timeless. But you take a band like the Rolling Stones and all of a sudden rock and roll looks like it’s completely falling apart. Kieth Richards and Mick Jagger look like the walking dead, but they still manage to rock. My wife and I saw them on their retirement tour Bridges to Babylon in 1997 (I know, they didn’t end up retiring after that, but the tickets sure cost a fortune because it was a retirement tour), and I was surprised at what an energetic production it was. So, never underestimate the power of rock and roll. It may look a little haggard at times, but it keeps right on kicking.
Of course, if you do like KISS and just wear makeup and costumes nobody would ever even know that your not the same band you were in the 70′s. Rock on my people.
