We have a running joke where I work that when our yearly evaluations come around, we don’t necessarily have to have done a great job, or even do a good job talking ourselves up during our review, we just have to be really good at talking all the other guys down. “Oh yeah? You think I’m bad, well you should see…” We’ve all grown up learning that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Well, as I am prone to do, I figured out the system. Nowhere in that statement does it say that we have to SAY the nice thing, we just have to have something nice to say. So, when you feel like talking down to someone, just make sure that you also have something nice that you could say, and that gives you carte blanche to say whatever you feel like. Thus making it possible for persons of any height to say what they feel. Interpretation is the key to inspiration.
So, while it is possible for a short person to talk down to a tall person, but just remember, it is also possible for a tall person to squish a short person like a bug.
