“Just throw your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don’t care” well, if I really don’t care, why should I throw my hands in the air and wave them around? When I don’t care about something, I generally just don’t do it. When I hear a line like that in a song I am more motivated to just leave my hands down, because that would be a better representation of me not caring. I think that would more adequately send the message that the singer is looking for. I wonder sometimes if the person saying that line ever looks out into the crowd and sees all of the hands in the air and thinks to himself “well that was lost on this crowd, I guess they care too much for a line like that.”
Although, sometimes it’s kind of fun to make sure that everybody knows just how little you care. Not caring is so much more fullfilling when shared with others. That is, of course, unless you don’t care about that kind of thing.
